A 2-Day training programme on GRIHA for Existing Building (EB) and SVAGRIHA (Simple Versatile Affordable GRIHA) was organized by GRIHA Council on 7th and 8th November, 2019 at TERI SRC, Bangalore.

Day 1 commenced with a brief introduction on GRIHA and its variants, followed by a detailed presentation on the various aspects of GRIHA EB. The training focused on site parameters, maintenance & housekeeping, energy, water, occupant health & comfort and social aspects with respect to existing buildings. Each criterion was explained through a presentation followed by exercises and hands on session on the feasibility tool.

Day 2 of the training programme focused on the SVAGRIHA variant. The presentation covered criteria pertaining to landscape, architecture, energy, waste, water, materials and lifestyle to enable participants to understand the rating system. Subsequently, the participants were also engaged with a hands-on demo of the online SVAGRIHA tool, to reiterate the simplicity of the tool.

The programme was attended by building professionals like architects, engineers, developers, policy makers and students. The training was very well received by the participants.
