When Bangkok floods, this park does something amazing
Spilling out across the delta of the Chao Phraya River, the Thai capital was once known as the Venice of the East for its network of canals. This oasis of green in the hyper-developed city has an important job: it can contain one million gallons of water.
Material formed from crab shells and trees could replace flexible plastic packaging
From liquid laundry detergent packaged in cardboard to compostable plastic cups, consumer products are increasingly touting their sustainable and renewable origins. Now researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology have created a material derived from crab shells and tree fibers that has the potential to replace the flexible plastic packaging used to keep food fresh.
Why you shouldn't be a 'straw-man' environmentalist
