“Bounce Off” – Debate on ‘Is Sustainable Affordable?’
Amphitheatre, India Habitat Centre | 11th December, 2017

Building sector is one of the largest energy consumers in India. The major consumption of Energy in buildings is during construction and later in lighting or air-conditioning systems. Buildings also accounts for 24% of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions.

Sustainable construction is the method to minimize the harmful impact that buildings have on the environment. Such sustainably built green buildings are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient, right from location selection to the demolition after its lifecycle ends. A green building uses less energy, water and other natural resources creates less waste & GHG and is healthy for people living or working inside as compared to a conventional building.

In order to promote widespread construction of energy efficient/ green buildings in the country, the Government has initiated various schemes and policies. Though the technology for construction of sustainable building is readily available there is a perception that sustainability comes at a cost.

'Bounce Off' will have a panel of 6 eminent personalities who would deliberate on "Is Sustainable is Affordable?" The panel is a blend of architects, real estate experts, environmentalist and developers.

The debate will be moderated by Anisha Nayar Dhawan Zee Business.
