As India progresses towards its commitment of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070, the building sector has a critical role in transforming from a major energy consumer to a contributor of clean energy.
Keeping this commitment in mind, GRIHA Council has introduced the GRIHA Energy Positive Certificate to acknowledge and encourage projects that demonstrate exemplary energy performance by achieving a positive annual energy balance.
The GRIHA Energy Positive Certificate provides verification of a building's energy performance based on measured or verified annual energy consumption and renewable energy generation.
The certification evaluates whether the annual renewable energy generated by the project exceeds its annual energy demand after accounting for all operational energy uses within the defined project boundary.

- Case Scenario 2: Operation & Maintenance - Projects with existing infrastructure and operational for over a year.
- Case Scenario 3: Municipal Limits / Area under Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) / Gram Panchayat / etc.
