Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment April 2023
Mr. Sanjay Seth, Vice President & CEO, GRIHA Council

Commemorating World Water Day, the United Nations 2023 Water Conference paved the way for global leaders and stakeholders to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals and their water targets through Water Action Agenda. At the same time, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Sixth Assessment Report came as a wake-up call for the world emphasizing on accelerated implementation and improved impacts. It stated that the urban systems are critical and have great potential in reducing emissions, advancing climate resilient adaptation and mitigation, and ensuring human well-being.

Building sustainable habitats is a multi-stakeholder endeavour. I am immensely pleased to share that the GRIHA Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. The GRIHA Council will be working with students and teachers of 100 Navodaya Vidyalaya across India to evaluate and rate the environmental performance of their schools based on the GRIHA rating variant- GRIHA for Existing Schools. Through fun and activity-based learning, we intend to develop a proactive attitude towards building sustainable habitats amongst students and help them imbibe the concepts of resource conservation and green development. Conforming with India's commitment towards climate-resilient development and ensuring sustainability, this initiative between Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and GRIHA Council will facilitate in fostering commitment and empowering future generations to become agents of change and emerge as climate and sustainability leaders of tomorrow.

Also, I am pleased to inform you that the GRIHA Council has released the training calendar for the year 2023-2024 on the website. It's also time to mark your calendar for the much-awaited annual event- The 15th GRIHA Summit, scheduled for 23rd and 24th November 2023. Through these platforms, we can unite and learn as we work towards attaining the shared goal of a sustainable future. We look forward to your joining us for two days of deliberations, collaborations, and learning.

I would like to congratulate and thank the GRIHA community for completing the last financial year on a positive note. As we embark on new financial year (2023-2024), lets continue to aspire high and emerge as an invaluable catalyst in adoption of sustainable habitats.
