Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment

March 2023

Mr. Sanjay Seth, CEO GRIHA Council

As India assumes its G20 presidency, epitomizing the theme of "Vasudahaiva Kutumbakam" or "One Earth, One Family, One Future", India has taken the global leadership and is determined to redefine, harness and steer collective actions towards diverse social, economic, and humanitarian and environmental issues. As a catalyst for global transformation, India is promoting energy transitions to accelerate low-carbon growth and promote an eco-friendly lifestyle globally.

Unleashing the potential for green growth, the union budget for 2023-24 articulates that India is ready to stride towards 'green' development. It holds great significance for the infrastructure sector, with allocations for energy transition, focusing on battery energy storage and promoting Green Credit Programme, thereby substantially boosting the building and environmental sector. The announcement of the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) is yet another opportunity to create sustainable urban infrastructures in tier 2 and tier 3 cities and promote eco designs for the cities. Also, a boost in the budget allocation towards affordable housing through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) integrates sustainability in affordable housing and facilitates the adoption of innovative and green technologies.

The new advancements in the union budget 2023-2024 have provided the GRIHA council and other stakeholders tremendous opportunities to build climate resilience, accelerate green growth and sustainable development and reaffirm our commitment to holistically remoulding the planet into a healthy and sustainable one. As we approach the end of the financial year 2022-23, we thank the GRIHA Community for their immense support. Your trust in GRIHA solidifies the efforts we make towards creating sustainable habitats. Let us continue to pursue our vision for a greener future.

On this note, wishing you and your family a very Happy Holi. May the festival of colours brighten your life with happiness, good health and success.
