An awareness programme was organized for senior government officials of Gujarat Housing Board and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on 16th January 2018 at Ahmedabad, to explicate the new variant of the national rating system- GRIHA for Affordable Housing (AH). The programme emphasized on the need to integrate sustainability in the affordable housing to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna and briefly explained the various parameters considered in GRIHA AH rating system. The underlining objectives of the rating system, such as reducing costs, incorporation of cost effective sustainability measures attaining environmental impact reduction, simplicity in execution, alignment with the local and national goals were elucidated during the interaction. The programme was attended by 24 participants including civil engineers, town development inspectors, architects, electrical engineers and so on. The participants expressed their interest in registering their upcoming affordable housing projects under GRIHA’s new variant and thus concluding the program on a positive note.
