GRIHA Evaluators & Trainers Programme at Bhubaneswar

A three day technical training program on GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) for Evaluators & Trainers was organized by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) and ADaRSH (Association for Development and Research on Sustainable Habitats) in partnership with School of Planning & Architecture, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar from 24-26 September 2014 at KIIT Conference Hall, Bhubaneswar.

The program was inaugurated by Prof. P P Mathur, Vice Chancellor, KIIT University, Shri. Sudhanshu Sekhar Pati, EIC (E) cum PCEI & SDA, Odisha, Shri. B R Nayak, Chief architect, Odisha, Ms Mili Majumdar, Director, TERI, Shri Pradeep kumar, Associate Director, TERI and Prof. S S Ray, Director, School of Architecture and Planning, KIIT University. All the Dias members had presented their views on the importance of green building and the need of integrating this information in the course curriculum of students. The inaugural session was closed with a detailed presentation on the overview of GRIHA by Ms Mili Majumdar, Director, TERI. The session was addressed to a large audience, including the registered participants, students and staff of KIIT University, Key building professionals, representatives from IIA and other Schools of architecture, Distinguished speakers from TERI and ADaRSH.

This three day intensive 'GRIHA training program for evaluators and trainers was focused to give a detailed understanding of GRIHA rating system and train the participants to become certified GRIHA trainers & evaluators. The program course included sustainable site planning, water and waste water management, building design optimization, energy performance optimization, renewable energy utilization, solid waste management, sustainable building material and construction technology, health & well being and environmental quality. The three day program was divided into fourteen sessions including the GRIHA website demonstration and the GRIHA Evaluator and Trainer qualifying exams.

The key objective of this training program was to create awareness on green building concept, create more number of trained professionals on green building and accelerate the green building movement in the country.
