Catalysing Development of Sustainable Habitats
With climate change impacts becoming evident each day, the green building sector is gaining prominence. Evolving green architecture trend demonstrates a propensity for carbon reduction. Considering all social, economic, and environmental aspects, and the country’s building laws, regulations and compliances, the GRIHA rating tools have been comprehensively designed to facilitate green building movement at diverse project scales across the country. Highlighting the initiatives taken by GRIHA Council to boost the adoption of sustainable building practices, this article is an interesting read sharing about the impact of government policies on promoting green buildings, the incentives received by developers and property buyers/owners who opt for green constructions in India, synergies of GRIHA with global certification bodies, and challenges and prospects of green development growth in India.
