Introduction to Prelude event:

GRIHA Council organizes Prelude events as a curtain-raiser to its annual flagship GRIHA Summit, which brings together key stakeholders from the green building sector along with enthusiastic Young Paryavaran Rakshaks. These events are thoughtfully curated to set the tone for the upcoming summit and aim to raise awareness across diverse stakeholder groups on pressing environmental issues.

Over the years, the Prelude events have featured a wide range of engaging and impactful activities, including sessions on Plogging, Green Carnival, Nukkad Natak, Mud and Bamboo Architecture, clean-up drives, plantation campaigns, and various student competitions conducted under the Paryavaran Rakshak Programme. Through these initiatives, GRIHA Council continues to foster a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility across generations.

TARANG - Think. Aspire. Reimagine. Act for a New Green world

This festive season, GRIHA Council is back with TARANG - Think. Aspire. Reimagine. Act for a New Green world”, under its fourth edition of “Paryavaran Rakshak Programme” aimed at engaging students in environmental education through interactive and thought-provoking activities.

The theme emphasizes empowering youth to imagine and build a greener future, inspiring them to rethink conventional practices and act as changemakers in their communities. By combining education with action, TARANG seeks to cultivate environmentally responsible citizens who can lead the transition towards a sustainable built environment.

TARANG: Paryavaran Rakshak Programme 4.0

As a prelude to the 17th GRIHA Summit, GRIHA Council is organizing “TARANG - Think. Aspire. Reimagine. Act for a New Green world”, under its fourth edition of “Paryavaran Rakshak Programme”.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Start of Registration: 28th July 2025
  • Qualifying criteria submission deadline & closing of registration: 25 September, 2025
  • Announcement of shortlisted participants: 30 September, 2025
  • Event Date: 13th October 2025

FEATURED COMPETITIONS:

Get ready to tickle funny bones while tackling tough truths! Laugh Out Wild is a stand-up comedy competition for schools and colleges that brings humor to the heart of environmental action. This isn’t just about getting laughs, it’s about sparking awareness and creativity through comedy.

Participants are invited to take the stage themed around “In Nature, For Nature, With Nature!”. From everyday eco-struggles to wild weather woes, plastic problems to planet-saving antics, use wit, satire, and storytelling to shine a light on our climate challenges and inspire audiences to care. Let your voice be heard, your jokes be clever, and your message be loud: saving the planet can be serious, but it can also be seriously funny!

Eligibility:

Students above the age of 10 years from school, drama school and NGO.
Students from college.
 

Qualifying criteria:

Conceptual note (150-250 words) of the theme to be performed at the event, with a brief write-up on script to be submitted.
 

Guidelines:

- Any individual or a group of 2 individuals are allowed to perform in the competition.
- No background music will be allowed as a part of the competition.
- Duration of the final performance should not be more than 3-5 minutes.
- Participants will use their own costumes and props required for the performance.
The event aims to harness the power of street theatre to spark conversations and inspire communities towards environmental action.

Nukkad Natak has always been a medium for direct, powerful, and unfiltered expression—and here, the street becomes the stage for stories of sustainability, conservation, and climate responsibility.

Participants are encouraged to bring alive thought-provoking narratives that address issues such as waste reduction, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and renewable energy adoption, while keeping the performance engaging, inclusive, and impactful.

Eligibility:

Students above the age of 10 years from school, drama school, NGO and colleges.
 

Qualifying criteria:

Conceptual note (150-250 words) of the idea for drum and performed at the event. A glimpse of 1-to-2-minute behind the scene video recording of their performance.
 

Guidelines:

- Any individual or a group with maximum of 10 participants will be allowed to participate.
- Language for the performance can be either Hindi or English or both.
- Pre-recorded dialogues and background music will be allowed as a part of the competition.
- Duration of the final performance should not be more than 8-10 minutes.
- Participants will use their own costumes, props, any other special effects required for the performance.
This competition invites participants to translate their innovative ideas for a sustainable future into tangible, scaled models.

From climate-resilient buildings to renewable energy systems, from waste-to-resource innovations to community eco-spaces—the models should showcase design thinking that blends creativity with environmental responsibility.

The aim is to encourage practical yet imaginative solutions that could address real-world sustainability challenges, demonstrating how small-scale ideas can inspire large-scale impact.

Eligibility:

Students above the age of 10 years from school, drama school, NGO and college.
 

Qualifying criteria:

Conceptual note (150-250 words) of the idea of the model.
A glimpse of 1-to-2-minute behind the scene video of model preparation.
 

Guidelines:

- Any individual or group with maximum of 5 participants will be allowed to participate in the competition.
- The model must be prepared with the materials which is based on the principles of 5Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot.
- The size of the model shall not exceed 2’ x 2’.
The event aims to promote conscious clothing choices and highlight how fashion can celebrate both style and sustainability. It’s not just a walk on the runway - it’s a walk towards a greener future, where every prop tells a story of care for the planet.

Participants are encouraged to rethink fashion through the lens of environmental responsibility using natural materials, repurposed items, biodegradable accessories, or innovative waste-to-wear ideas.

Eligibility:

Students above the age of 10 years from school, drama school and NGO are eligible to participate in this competition. (This competition is not for college students).
 

Qualifying criteria:

Concept note (150-250 words) of the idea for fashion walk.

A glimpse of 1-to-2-minute behind the scene video recording of the process of making the outfits and rehearsal of performance.
 

Guidelines:

- A group of 5 to 10 (min. 5 and max. 10) individuals are allowed to participate in the competition.
- Duration of the final performance should not be more than 10 minutes.
- Participants will use their own costumes and props required for the performance.
- All costumes and props must reflect the core theme of sustainability and nature. Any deviation from the theme may result in disqualification.
- Costumes must be crafted using eco-friendly materials such as upcycled fabrics, natural fibers (like jute, cotton, hemp, or bamboo), biodegradable elements (such as dried leaves or coconut shells), or any waste materials.
- The use of synthetic, newly purchased fashion items is strongly discouraged.
- The outfits must be safe, comfortable, and age-appropriate, with any vulgar, offensive, or culturally insensitive representations strictly prohibited.
- Pre-recorded dialogues as a starter explaining the concept will be allowed for 1 minute. Audio must be shared at least 2 weeks before the event with the organizing team. The preferred language for the audio is English. Background music (without lyrics) is allowed for performance.

Get ready to unleash your inner musician in the ultimate rhythm showdown! Battle of the Beats is an exciting drum competition that celebrates creativity, teamwork, and the power of rhythm. But here’s the twist; no store-bought drums allowed! Participants must design and build their own drums using recycled, upcycled, or innovative materials.

This isn’t just a music contest, it’s a celebration of sustainability, resourcefulness, and expression. Whether it’s a metal can, or a creatively crafted bamboo frame, your drum should be unique and handmade. Once built, bring it to life through a powerful performance that showcases coordination, energy, and beats.

Eligibility:

- Students above the age of 10 years from school, drama school and NGO.
- Students from college.
 

Qualifying criteria:

- Conceptual note (150-250 words) of the idea for drum and performed at the event.
- A glimpse of 1-to-2-minute behind the scene video recording of the process of making the drum and their performance.
 

Guidelines:

- Any individual or a group of upto 10 individuals are allowed to participate in the competition.
- Duration of the final performance should not be more than 3-5 minutes.
- Pre-recorded dialogues as a starter explaining the concept will be allowed for 1 minute. (if participant wants to include).
- No background music will be allowed as a part of the competition.
- Participants will use their own costumes and props required for the performance.

  • Each registered participant can take part in 1 Competition.
  • Confirmation emails will be sent to participants shortlisted for the final performance, based on the submission of required documents.
  • Please fill the registration form carefully, mentioning the number of participants for each competition.
  • To ensure a safe and enriching experience, each school/organization must be accompanied by at least 2 teachers/mentors. No additional fee will be charged for them.
  • Registration is complimentary for teachers/mentors accompanying the students.
  • Food and refreshments will be arranged for all participants. Kindly note that accommodation will not be provided by the organizers.
  • Payment details are to be submitted through the registration form.
  • Details related to stage sizing will be share after the shortlisting of the teams.
